Canton employees get their hands dirty
In early August, co-ops, interns and other summer employees at the Ohio Refining Division in Canton volunteered with the JRC Learning Center in Canton.
The Center provides quality care and early education for ages six weeks up to school age children in the northeast area of Canton.
The JRC recently deconstructed all of its traditional playground equipment in an effort to begin building a natural play space using dirt, logs and rocks. According to Center Director Jennifer Palmer, research has found this type of play space invites the children to engage in more imaginative play.
The MPC employees worked together moving dirt, removing hardware from pieces of the original play set and cleaning and organizing toys in the play area. They also toured the facility at the end of the day and interacted with the children at the center who were very excited to have visitors.
