‘CentsOff Marathon’ unleashed at 2016 Marathon Classic

Attendees of the 2016 Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning & O-I are greeted by a treasure trove of promotions and freebies at Highland Meadows Golf Club. Among these, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is giving away a free drawstring bag to each guest, though it’s the promo code inside that’s the real gift. These codes unlock a gasoline discount at participating locations within MPC’s expansive marketing network.

The codes are part of MPC’s new CentsOff Marathon program, which offer an instant cents-off-per-gallon discount on fuel purchases at participating Marathon brand locations. The special codes distributed at the 2016 Marathon Classic provide a 5 cent per gallon discount off any Marathon fuel purchase. Additionally, this discount code is valid on single purchases up to 20 gallons and can be used again and again on each visit until Aug. 31, 2016.

“We’re excited about this program and what it offers our customers,” said MPC Brand Marketing Director Bill McCleave. “This unique discount program is a step beyond the traditional gift card as it will instantly discount the price at the pump.” CentsOff Marathon uses proprietary technology from Drop Tank to enable instant price discounts at the pump via codes or gift cards. CentsOff Marathon gift cards are available for a purchase price of $23 at participating locations and instantly discount fuel purchases by 26 cents per gallon on a total of 100 gallons over multiple fueling transactions. This represents a savings of over 10 percent.

MPC considered the 2016 Marathon Classic to be an ideal platform to share these unique discounts. “We’re excited to share these codes with the visitors to the Marathon Classic,” said T.J. Noonan, CentsOff Marathon coordinator. “The codes can be shared with friends and family, and are good until Aug. 31, so we see this as an excellent way to give back to the fans who have contributed this tournament’s success.”
