Five reasons to visit the 2016 Marathon Classic
1.The weather is gorgeous.
Attending a golf tournament is the perfect excuse to spend the day outdoors getting some fresh air. Whether you are the next professional golfer, an average golf enthusiast or just joining the golf world, there’s a lot to enjoy being among the beautiful greens of Highland Meadows Golf Club with some of the greatest talent in the sport—and the weekend’s weather forecast is spectacular! What’s not to love about sunny skies and a warm breeze with the unmistakable clink of a ball being hit toward its next birdie?
2.The NBA Championship Trophy is here.
This year’s NBA Championship victory by the Cleveland Cavaliers rocked The Land with celebrations that lasted for several days. Now you too can share in the moment with the actual Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy, which is on display at this year’s Marathon Classic! Made of 14.5 pounds of sterling silver and vermeil with a 24-karat gold overlay, the trophy stands waiting for your admiration. It’s not every day that you get a chance to see professional golfers tee off one minute and take a selfie with a priceless piece of history the other.
Who doesn’t love free gas? By visiting the iconic Marathon tent area, you can enter a drawing for a chance to win one of the $100 gas cards raffled off each hour of the tournament. On Sunday, the prize moves up to $500 per card! A prize like that calls for some new road trip plans with family or friends while the season is still in its prime.
4.Test driving some of the world’s most famous courses…
Like last year, golf fans can test out their skills with the aboutGolf golf simulator, located at the MPC corporate tent. This simulator allows you to virtually play with incredible accuracy in some of the world’s most famous golf courses, including Pebble Beach, Casa de Campo, Spyglass Hill and TPC Sawgrass. Prizes are available for the best-scoring players, including $50 Marathon gas cards and Cents Off Marathon discount cards.
The Marathon Classic is really a great chance to see some awesome golf in action. This tournament offers one of the few chances to catch the LPGA tour in this area of the country. While here, you’ll have the chance to watch 23 Olympic-qualifying players representing 17 different countries as they play in one of the most competitive golf tournaments in the world. What an easy opportunity to experience the best of the best!
