Marathon brand station owners value family, home in Alabama
Marathon brand stations are independently owned and operated. Home Oil Company operates Marathon brand retail locations in an 80-mile radius around Dothan, Alabama.
Purchased by Tom and Sarah Jo Shirley in 1966, Home Oil Co. has grown to include 200 employees across southeastern Alabama and part of Georgia and Florida. Tom’s son, Tim Shirley, was eight years old when his parents purchased the business, and is now president of Home Oil. The company has 34 Marathon locations, with 23 company-owned-and-operated HOBO Pantry locations and 11 dealer locations.
“We’re a home oil company,” said Tim Shirley. “You might say that’s guided us over the years … Our goal today is to be the top-notch location wherever we are …” He noted that he is preparing to pass Home Oil on to his sons, Dustin and Ryan.
“Home Oil has some of the best locations in the area, and we feel privileged to partner with them,” said Brand Territory Manager Josh Brown. “The value they place on both the quality of their stores and employees is one of the many reasons why we are proud to have them represent the Marathon Brand in the Southeast.”
Brand Sales Manager Jennifer Adams added, “Home Oil is an excellent retailer, and we’re really excited to partner with them in expanding the brand. They value the quality of the image and execution of brand programs, which makes them great partners.”
