Marathon brand station welcome in The Villages
Marathon brand stations are independently owned and operated, such as the new John W. Clark Marathon location that opened The Villages, Florida, in November 2017. It is the second station serving the popular "golf car" community.
When Kentucky-based Marathon jobber John W. Clark started spending a portion of his year in The Villages, he found a quality gas station and convenience store was missing in the community. The first Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Marathon – Clark’s Florida-based version of Kentucky hospitality – opened two years ago and was an instant draw for the area.
Clark stuck to his vision of an old-time, nostalgic Marathon station for the second location, still decorated with Marathon collectibles, crisp white benches, and rocking chairs out front – but also featuring all the state-of-the-art station amenities.
“Clark’s second location in The Villages is another best-in-class addition to the Marathon Brand," noted Marathon Brand Eastern District Sales Manager Andy DeCocker. “The community has soundly embraced the Clark family’s vision for their stations. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Clark and his staff went above and beyond to keep consumers in the area fueled up, bringing in additional personnel to direct traffic and keep things orderly, despite periods of torrential rain. They received numerous kudos from the community.”
