MPC makes financial commitment to support STEM education at NCAT
MPC demonstrates its commitment to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education with a $150,000 donation to a program at the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT). The recruitment and retention initiative, Helping Orient Minorities to Engineering (HOME), seeks to attract and retain high achieving students in STEM.
Students entering their freshman year at NCAT are accepted to the HOME program by invitation only. The purpose of the HOME Program is to assist students in their academic, personal and professional development by providing seminars/workshops, mentoring and coaching.
NCAT is the first historically black college or university (HBCU) with which MPC has sponsored a program of this kind. According to Tony Moore, talent acquisition supervisor, NCAT awards more engineering degrees than any other HBCU in the country, making the donation to the HOME program a worthwhile investment in future MPC employees.
Diversity and inclusion are part of MPC’s corporate values. By investing in schools like NCAT, MPC can continue to increase the diversity of its potential workforce.
