MPC's Marine Transportation wins Coast Guard award
MPC’s Marine Transportation organization was recognized as a 2018 William M. Benkert Award for Environmental Excellence bronze winner. The award was established by the Coast Guard in 1995 to recognize outstanding achievement beyond regulatory compliance.
The criteria include several critical success factors such as environmental policies, objectives and targets, pollution prevention activity, safety management, outreach, partnership, and performance metrics. The award program has five levels of recognition: osprey, gold, silver, bronze, and honorable mention. The levels acknowledge an organization's progress in pursuing environmental excellence.
Marine Transportation’s dedication to the enhancement of environmental programs, such as developing a vessel fuel conservation program, a wildlife habitat on company property, and working with local Cub Scout groups, were recognized as achievements and a strong commitment to environmental awareness.
“Receiving the Benkert Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees to act responsibly and is a true representation of our culture in living our values,” said HES&S Manager Amie Greiner, who accepted the award for Marine.
